The Process of Building a Simple WordPress Website
Start creating your online presence effortlessly with our guide to building a Simple WordPress Website.
Step 1: Domain Registration
Opt for a memorable domain name for your business or organization. Utilize a reputable domain registrar to acquire your selected domain. It’s advisable to steer clear of using GoDaddy and consider using namecheap.com
Step 2: Hosting Provider Selection
Choose a dependable hosting provider that aligns with your website’s needs.
- For small websites, consider namecheap.com shared hosting.
- For larger corporate websites, options like Wpengine and Siteground are recommended.
Step 3: Gathering Branding Assets
Ensure your branding assets are ready for use, including:
- Logos: Ensure logo images are provided in SVG format.
- Colors: provide the Hex code of your branding colors.
- Fonts: If not utilizing Google Fonts, prepare the font files (preferably in WOFF2 format). If using Google Fonts, provide the font names.
Step 4: Organize your content:
- Copy: Store your copy in a document file, such as Google Doc or PDF.
- Images: If you have specific images for the website, provide high-quality images with ample dimensions.
- Layout: If you have a preliminary idea of how to display the content, use Google Slides to create a simple wireframe.
Step 5: Requirement Compilation
Compile all requirements in a file, including:
- What pages need to be built?
- Any additional features desired, e.g., news, blog posts, team page, etc.
- Identify competitors.
- Specify any websites with designs you admire and note the aspects you appreciate.
Step 6: Web Design
Design the website based on the client’s requirements, incorporating the provided branding assets. Seek client approval before handing the mockup files to the developer
Step 7: Development
Develop the website in a staging environment. Allow the client to review the final results.
Step 8: Launch
Once the client approves the final development, the website can go live.
